• make a farmhouse chalkboard from a thrift store cutting board

    Thrifty Thursday

Kitchen Cutting Board to Farmhouse Style Chalkboard It wasn’t too long ago that I purchased this cutting board at a local thrift store. I love old cutting boards, but my kitchen is small and I don’t have lots of room for having a bunch of them. The thrill of finding one for crafting left me thinking about the possibilites. I picked this one up for less than a dollar when our thrift store had mark downs on housewares. I was thinking about using it for making a stand for my Kindle Fire, since I often like using it to view recipes I find online. The cutting board itself was a…

  • Thrift to Farmhouse Decor

DIY Home Decor with Thrift Store Frames Did you ever think about throwing something out and change your mind? That’s what happened with these old picture frames. Today I’m going to share with you how they were rescued from stuff I was going to haul to the thrift store, and made into new home decor.  The Real Truth I purchased these frames from a thrift store a long…time ago. If I remember right, I paid $3.00 for them.  When I purchased them, they were painted gold and had these cute vintage teacup prints in them. One was marked AVON on the back and in my research I found that Avon…

Every week I look forward to experimenting with card making techniques. Sometimes I’m inspired by a video that I watch. Often times I simply enjoy playing with a new supply. Today I wanted to share with you a card that was created using a new Tim Holtz Distress Mini Ink kit that I recently purchased. The colors that come in the pack are so vibrant! Picked Raspberry, Mustard Seed, Peacock Feathers, and Spiced Marmalade. Even the names are vibrant! I had an unopened Distress Oxide Ink in Cracked Pistachio in my stash. Yes! Never opened and I don’t know why. It’s an amazing color, so I added it to the mix…

Very Merry Tags Easy Christmas Card

Good Morning, Can hardly believe that Christmas is less than 6 weeks away! I decided to work on another Christmas design that is fast and easy to do. Cricut access is great and I  found this little tree in the Very Merry Tags images. I cut my tree layers from green and white and added some Star Dust Stickles to highlight the snowy overlay. The card background is simply a piece of white, cut off at an angle. I ran it through the Cuttlebug with a snowflakes embossing folder. The “joy” stamp is a mini from Close to My Heart. The red shimmer trim is a retired CTMH product that…

  • Birthday Box Card with Dollar Tree Stickers

I had to think outside the box with this little card that I’m posting today. At least it was outside the box for me. I decided to try something outside my usual cards and do this adorable little box card. I’ve been looking at a few tutorials and videos and finally got brave enough to try it. The basic box card was cut at 9 x 5 and then scored the landscape way at 2 1/8, 4 1/4, 6 3/8 and 8 1/2 inches on the Score Pal. Then I turned the card stock and scored it 2 3/4 inches from the bottom. I cut the four flaps with my…

    Word Art Wednesday Challenge #183

Bible Marker in Cricut Craft Room For my morning devotions I’ve been reading To Live With Christ, by Bo Giertz. Today’s devotion came from Colossians 3. Being raised with and having new life in Christ, there is practical exhortation as to how we should live the new life we’ve been given. We also have the promise that despite all our mistakes and infirmities, God’s work continues, a beautiful wonder of His grace. Today’s Word Art Wednesday from Psalm 149:4 reflects the same message. Time spent learning about our Savior reminds us that he has clothed us with his loving care and salvation. No matter where we turn in scripture, Christ…
