Then you remove the paper backing from the sticky side of your design or decal and “transfer” it to your surface.

Personally I like to purchase clear transfer tape in rolls. I like wider widths for sign designs, and have a roll of narrower width for small decals.
When I was a total newbie to vinyl crafting I didn’t even know about transfer tape. I make treat buckets for my son’s eighth grade graduating class, and cut vinyl to personalize the buckets. After much trial and error I grabbed some masking tape and finally made my own transfer tape. Little did I know there already was a tool for that!
