Rediscovering Cardmaking

It’s been a long time since I joined a card challenge. Honestly, I haven’t made many cards lately either. When I saw the Shoppng Our Stash challenge on Paper Playful, I knew I had to join. The theme Pumpkin Spice & Everything Nice, sounded too cozy to pass up.

The October weather helped too. Cool, windy days make me want to curl up in my craft space. Perfect for a little pumpkin-inspired creativity.

Building the Base

I started with a brown A2 base using cardstock from my stash. On top, I layered an orangey plaid paper from a paper pack my son gave me for Christmas. This paper was great for a fall card, and I love using supplies with sentimental value — it makes the card feel extra special.

Coloring the Focal Image

For the main image, I used a little mouse carrying a pumpkin. I designed this image myself, and you can find it here if you’d like to use it too. I used Print Then Cut with my Cricut, then colored it with markers. I’m not the greatest at coloring yet, but practice makes progress! Adding some Distress Ink around the edges gave it warmth and depth.

If you upload this image to Cricut Design Space and want to use it for Print Then Cut, be sure to flatten it to your desired shape first. The print and cut your image using the prompts in the send panel. If using Silhouette, add it to your shape and be sure to uncheck the cut box for the image in the send panel. Only cut the outer image.

Adding the Finishing Touches

The sentiment, “Stay mice & cozy,” was drawn with my Cricut pen tool. I tucked in a couple of leaves from Cricut Access to complete the scene. Simple, sweet, and perfectly cozy for fall.

Using What I Have

This challenge reminded me how much I enjoy using supplies I already have. Sometimes all it takes is a blustery October day, a cute little mouse, and a fun theme like Pumpkin Spice & Everything Nice to spark creativity again.
