Handmade Holiday Card Project Share | Paper Rocks Scissors Challenge
Hello and welcome to Say It With Simplicity! Today I’m sharing a handmade Christmas card project created for the Paper Rocks Scissors December #11 blog challenge.
I love pushing myself to get creative with the supplies I already have, and that’s exactly what inspired this festive card. For this challenge, you can make any type of craft project, but you must use paper and/or scissors and clearly share how you used them in your design.
To begin, the background of this card features patterned paper from a 6×6 paper pack I picked up at Hobby Lobby. I layered this on an A2 card base. Then, to create snowy layers, I hand-cut “snowbanks” with scissors and added texture using an embossing folder from my stash.
Next, I sketched a simple Christmas tree on a piece of scrap paper. I used this as a pattern, cutting the tree shape out by hand with scissors. This gives the project an organic, handcrafted feel.
For the sentiment, I used an oval die to cut two layers—one from white cardstock and one from a coordinating color. I stamped “It’s the most wonderful time of the year” using the Christmas Wish Word Decors stamp set from Inlovearts.
Lastly, a few gold adhesive gems add just the right amount of sparkle, and I finished by drawing snowy accents on the tree with a white gel pen.
If you enjoyed this festive handmade Christmas card, you’ll love seeing more of my creations. Be sure to visit my Handmade Cards page for additional cardmaking inspiration and ideas for every season.
