Farmhouse Tray Decor

Watermelon Theme Wood Tags

Hey everyone! Nothing says summer like watermelon. Now you can create watermelon themed farmhouse tray decor with these adorable wood tags.

These are made from reclaimed pallet wood and are a quick and easy project for your summer decor.

I’ve created a free SVG that you can find in the summer section of my Free SVG Library.

These tag bases were cut from pallet wood using my miter saw. They measure approximately 2.75 inches wide, by 5.25 inches tall. I used a 5/16 inch drill bit for the hole in the top and give them the look of a large tag.

I’ve created a YouTube video for this project as well as a free SVG file that you can download at the end of this post.

Stenciling Your Tags

These tags are a fun way to add a pop of color to your farmhouse decor. For stenciling the watermelon slice I used these stencil brushes. Most of the time I use makeup sponges, but I fell in love with stencil brushes after teaching a stenciling class.

The text was made super simple by using vinyl. I used Matte Black 651 vinyl from Expressions Vinyl to create the text on these tags. Using the vinyl will make this project quick and easy so you can get on to the rest of your summer projects and enjoy the warm weather.

For the stenciling I used Folk Art Stencil Brushes.

Using Matte Black Vinyl for Text

I like to paint using vinyl stencils. But the 651 is is so nice it’s hard to tell the difference between paint and the vinyl. You’ll want to get a whole roll for your future projects.

For this small project I used clear contact paper to transfer my vinyl to my mini farmhouse signs.
