“Registration Failed” Error in Silhouette

You love your Silhouette Machine right? But sometimes it throws you for a loop and you’re ready to…throw it out the window, stomp on it and maybe even use a few words that you don’t like using.  Know what I mean?

Yep! You know it. If you’ve owned your Cameo for any length of time, you’ve probably seen it.

So now what? 

Today I’m going to share with you how to fix that so that you can be sure you’ll be able to do your print and cut without fail.

Fix “Registration Failed” Error in Silhouette Studio

So I was making some print-and-cut stickers for my granddaughter. You can check out this post HERE. And this is what happened…not for the first time ever, but for the first time that seemed like a complete failure. 

I tried the usual things. I unloaded the mat and then reloaded and tried it again. And I tried it again, and again.

What could it hurt to try a different mat…So I did that. I had these cute stickers that I was trying to make and I thought I was never going to get them to cut.

I was ready to pull out some of those nasty vocab words that I really don’t use!!

The registration marks were even fairly thick. Sometimes I even set them back a little to get more on a page. I hadn’t even done that.

Then it hit me. It was almost as if I was seeing it for the very first time. 

I clicked on the circle that said “Manual”.

Now I wasn’t totally sure how this all worked. But I found out that if you hold down on the little left, right, up, down arrows that you see,  it moves the cutting tool. You have to hold your mouse button down, but it does move.

And just like it says, on the screen…

(Has your husband ever put something together and you tell him, “Read the directions!“? It was sort of one of those moments, only I felt like I was the recipient of that remark.)

“Position tool above the black square.” 

Now I’m not quite above the black square here, but I did get there.

Bam!! I hit register and the machine was moving and had those stickers cut out in no time.

I must have been holding my breath and now I let out a big sigh of relief.

Isn’t it cool when you finally understand something! 

I’m patting myself on the back as I write this. Not really, but I’m always glad to learn something new and share it with others.

So never fear your “registration failed” error again. you don’t have to throw your print and cut away or throw your Silhouette Cameo out the window.
