“You are Spectacular” Card with Cricut

Quick and Easy Valentine Card

This is a super simple and fun card to make with your Cricut! Everything is cut and written in one go, making assembly quick and easy. I’ve created this card as a Valentine, but it really could be used any time of the year. Let’s get started!

I’ve shared this project in Cricut Design Space, and basically everything outlined below is done for you there. All you have left to do is to cut and assemble. But if you want to make your own version of this card, you can follow the instructions below.

Supplies Needed:

• A2 card base (4.25” x 5.5”)
• Black cardstock (5.25” x 4.00”)
• White cardstock (5.00” x 3.75”)
• Red cardstock (for glasses cutout)
• Cricut Design Space (Cricut Access image for glasses)
• Cricut cutting machine
• Adhesive (tape runner or glue)
• Cricut pen for writing

Step-by-Step Instructions

Set Up in Cricut Design Space

1. Create a 5.00” x 3.75” white rectangle in Cricut Design Space.
2. Type “are spectacular” in a writing font and place it in the bottom right corner of the white rectangle.
3. Set the text to “Pen” and attach it to the white rectangle.
4. Create text or choose from one of the “you” sentiments in Cricut Access. I created my own text for this and welded it together.
5. Add a glasses cutout from Cricut Access.
6. Create two small circles (0.458” each-or size of your choice) for the eyes.

Step-by-Step Instructions

Prepare Your Card Base

Prepare an A2 Landscape cardbase. If you’ve never created your own card bases check out this post.

I like to use my Cricut Portable Trimmer for preparing my card base.

I cut all of the elements for this card using my Cricut Maker. Once done this is an easy to assemble card.

How to do the Card Sentiment

In Cricut Design Space, type out “are spec-tacular” using a writing font. In the operation panel be sure to switch the operation to “Pen” and font “Style” to “Writing”. Be sure to “Attach” the writing to the white card front. The font used for this project was DJ Flirt from inside Cricut Access.

For the “you”, this will simply be cut from black cardstock at the same time you cut the black layer and eyes with your Cricut.

Cut All the Pieces Using Your Cricut

Using your Cricut, cut all the images and layers except the white card base layer. I hid it in the layers panel and used a simple A2 card base that I make myself.

For the sentiment white layer, you will be prompted when the machine will be writing, so have your black pen handy.

Next Assemble the Card

1. Adhere the white cardstock with the written sentiment to the black cardstock using your preferred adhesive.
2. Attach this layered piece to the front of your A2 card base.
3. Adhere the glasses, the eyes and the “you” part of the sentiment.
4. Add any special touches that you wish to add like sequins, rhinestones, or more hearts.

Final Assembly and Finishing Touches

• Once all the elements are in place, check the alignment and make any adjustments.
• Press down firmly on all adhered elements to ensure they are secure.
• Your “YOU Are Spectacular” card is complete!
