Welcome to Say It With Simplicity!

I’m so glad you stopped by.

My name is Connie and I started Say It With Simplicity in 2014. My original posts were written to share my handcrafted card creations with like minded bloggers.

While I continue to enjoy card crafting, I also enjoy a number of other crafts. One of my favorites is sewing, and as a result I have acquired several vintage machines as well as a couple of modern ones.

Other favorite crafts are sign painting, wood working, felt crafts, drawing and painting, just to name a few. I love to journey down many roads of creativity. Above all, I like to encourage others in their crafting journey.

So often I hear people say, “You’re so talented.”

I’m truly humbled by that statement.

Many people share with me their feelings of inadequacy when it comes to creative work. To be truthful, I often times feel that very same way.

I didn’t go to school for art or design, and much of my know-how is self taught. My average library haul consists of no less than 10 or more crafting books and magazines. My definition of multitasking is watching crafting videos while I fold laundry.

As a mom to 8 kiddos, I found that learning how to do things with a thrifty mindset was essential. Over the years I sewed clothing, pillows, curtains and more. I hunted through thrift stores to furnish our home. Baking breads, gardening and making meals from scratch were necessities for feeding our growing family. In this journey I grew from one skill set to the next.

In time I applied much of what I learned to my crafting journey, and I know you can too!

If you’d like to find out a little bit more about me and my blogging journey

You don’t have to spend lots of money.

I’m constantly on the look out for craft supplies at thrift stores. I’ve purchase knitting needles, embroidery hoops, rubber stamps, patterns, fabrics, buttons and more at thrift stores. One of my old sewing machines only cost $7.00 and sews beautifully. Browse a local Habitat Re-store, garage sales and Craigslist for tools and supplies.

Inspiration comes from so many places. Look for books at your local library.  Find tutorials and videos online. Consider up-cycled crafts or nature crafts. The sky really is the limit!

I’d like to encourage you in the creative lifestyle.

There is so much out there to learn and absorb. Don’t be afraid to explore your creative side and find something that you enjoy.
