It’s Cold Outside

Wrap your hands around a cup of warmth with our favorite hot chocolate recipe.

My dad always quoted an old saying, “When the days begin to lengthen, so the cold strengthens.” ….Thanks Dad!

I’m not sure where the saying originated, but it certainly seems true for our part of the country. If you’re at zero or below, like we are, let’s say “Bah! Humbug!” to the cold and warm our hands on some delicious hot chocolate.

I started making my own hot chocolate from scratch, because I always had the simple ingredients at home. No need to stock packets or canisters of the ready made stuff. Just go for the real thing. In a few minutes you’ll have a cup of steaming hot goodness.

The best hot chocolate is made from scratch.

This recipe brings back memories of when our kids would help Daddy hunt for the Christmas tree. He would take anyone who was old enough to walk, so imagine a guy walking through the Christmas tree farm with 7 or 8 kiddos trailing behind. Yet they always got it done and brought back the perfect tree. Of course they needed a snack when they got home and Mom knew just the thing. Hot chocolate!

On those snowman building days, it takes longer to clean up all the wet clothes, than it does to make hot chocolate on top the stove. So simple and economical to boot.

This Is the Recipe I Still Use

My kids are pretty grown up now, but I still use this simple recipe for making hot cocoa from scratch. I love it and I know you will too.

So don’t let cold weather get you down, Stay cozy and warm and we’ll see you next time.
