DIY painted quilt square

I loved making this Painted Quilt Square Block. It’s a perfect project for using up the bits and pieces of my woodpile.

At 5 1/4 inches square, it’s a great piece for a tiered tray or shelf sitter sign.

DIY Painted Quilt Square Sign

For this small sign, I cut and sanded my square wood piece. Then I painted my wood piece with Waverly White chalk paint using a high-density foam roller.

The foam rollers are really great if you like a nice even paint coat.

I’ve been using them ever since I discovered them. It also makes very quick work out of the sign-making process.

I have posted an affiliate link to the foam rollers below. As an Amazon Associate, I earn from qualifying purchases. It doesn’t cost you more to purchase through my link, but it does help me to earn while creating content for my readers.

Then I used Oracal 631 vinyl to create my stencil on my Silhouette Cameo. Expressions Vinyl has 5-yard rolls of Oracal 631 and I use it for most of my sign projects.

After my background was completely dry, I painted my quilt block with Waverly Chalk Paint in the Color “Ink” applied with a makeup sponge.

What would you do with your DIY Painted Quilt block?

I plan to frame my painted quilt block and make two more for a trio of quilt blocks. They will be displayed above the desk in a little office nook I’m creating.
