Echo Park Sketch Houses on Kraft Card Stock

Yes, you can create cute Christmas cards without Christmas paper. This Christmas card was created using kraft cardstock and Silhouette Sketch pens.

Inspired by Pinterest

This Christmas card was inspired by a Pinterest Pin, and these Echo Park Houses in the Silhouette Store. I think they’re perfect for a card like this.  I like that the Christmas look is achieved without having to go out and buy decorative paper.

One of the challenges I had with this card was a bit of trial and error.  The little Santa and sleigh is from the Silhouette store and I cut it out on my Cameo. Unfortunately there was too much detail for such a small cut, so I offset it and eliminated some of the details for this card. That made it much easier to work with. I was able to get it cut out and adhered without a problem.

For the houses, I first ungrouped the images so that I could offset each one, draw and cut them out separately. I think they are adorable in the kraft cardstock and stand out against the torn, white background.

Next I created a the little Christmas Tree in Silhouette Studio by welding shapes. It gives a little more dimension by adding to the foreground of the little scene.

Other highlights of this card include:

  • The snow was acheived with torn paper and highlighted with Diamond Stickles. This is my favorite product for adding a little shine to a card project.
  • The stamp is from Stamps of Life and I think it is a great match for this card.
  • A few enamel dots and Diamond Stickles add the the Christmas look.

How have you used sketch pens in your Christmas Card crafting?  I would love to hear from you.
