Mojo Monday 463

MOJO Monday 463

Hope you had a wonderful weekend. Just a very quick tall and skinny MOJO Monday card today.  I chose papers from Echo Park “Hello Winter” and used a stamp from the Fiskars “Latte Love” stamp set. I thought that these silver hearts from Close to My Heart had been sitting in my stash long enough, and so I decided they would work for this card.

No, I’m not ready to say “Hello” to winter yet, but I do like this Echo Park paper and can’t wait to use it for some more joyous winter cards! Take care and have a great day.

Cricut and Scraps: Handcrafted Embellishments

Lots of paper, lots of great cards, but lots of scraps. I just… ummm…donated some various size pieces to my daughter who wanted to use some of it for scrap booking and I still have plenty. I’ve been trying to use up smaller pieces but then sometimes you just have itty bitty scraps and then what?

Making handcrafted gift tags and embellishments is a great way to use up bits and pieces that linger in your scrap stash.

Small pieces of your favorite patterned papers need not go to waste and you can put together many of these in a short time.

Grab the foam tape, Aleene’s Fast Grab Tacky Glue and your cutting machine.  Punches, stamps, embossing folders, buttons and even some machine stitiching also work wonderful for this project. How about a little washi tape or even stickers from the Dollar Tree to help you out? I’ve even used the patterned paper on the inside of safety envelops.

Start with a basic tag template or any shape you choose. As you can see in the photo, I’ve used some layering to make these tags bright and interesting. Imagine giving a gift with one of your own handcrafted embellishments. Something about it says, “You’re special!”

Take care, have a great rest of the day!

Mojo Monday 462: Hedge Hogs Cards

As I pointed out in yesterday’s post, I’ve been having fun with my Stephanie Barnard Stamps of Life card kits. I absolutely loved the card stock and patterned papers in the August kit. Plus I hadn’t used this little Hedge Hog set from the stamp club kit yet. I know…how could I have not!

When my daughter and her college roommate saw the hedge hog set, they thought it was so adorable. It was enough to get them talking about stamping. Just might end up on a gift list sometime…ya never know! All that said, I thought it was a great combo for the papers in the August kit.

Stamps of Life Hedge Hog Card

This little card is used the fun paper and embellishments from the August card kit, the hedge hog from the HedgeHog2stamp set and the “HI” was from the Watermelon2Stamp set. The second card uses the Stamps of Life card kit papers, a Darice embossing folder for the background, (Love the green!) and some EKSuccess stickers. I colored both animals with Prismacolor Pencils.

Hop on over to MOJO Monday to see this sweet and simple sketch and all the wonderful inspiration there. I’ve been working on a Send a Smile for kids bunch of cards that I hope to send out soon. This week’s challenge is “Anything Goes for Kids” I think kids would love the hedge hog, don’t you?

Have a great day and hope to see you again soon!

Birthday Box Card with Dollar Tree Stickers

I had to think outside the box with this little card that I’m posting today. At least it was outside the box for me. I decided to try something outside my usual cards and do this adorable little box card.

First of all I used my Scor-pal to create this card. The have a wonderful tutorial for an ACT size box card as well as many other great tutorials on their blog.

Then I chose papers for this card from a Stephanie Barnard Stamps of Life card kit that I recently purchased. The card kit club is great if you want to have everything matching for an adorable set of cards and I fell head over heels with this set when I got it. The pad of designer papers is so cute and colorful! The card stock is wonderful quality and there was a die, ribbon, embellishments, stamps, brads… the August kit came and I had barely even gotten a start on this birthday set. I’ll be using these elements for awhile.

I rounded the top corners of my box, cut my decorative papers.

For a little frugal fun I used a cut little set of chip board stickers that I had purchased at Dollar Tree. They are so colorful and coordinate well with the Stamps of Life papers that I used.  I found a little piece of scrap acetate for mounting the smaller balloon. Now it looks like it’s floating.

I loved putting this colorful little card together. If you have made one of these, you’ll know what I mean. If you haven’t tried it, by all means check out some tutorials. Any one can turn something ordinary into something fun. That’s it for today. Hope all your crafting endeavors are awesome today. See you next time!

Inspired by Garden Gloves: Thank you Card.

I love to use sketches and check Pinterest for cards. Sometimes I’m inspired by a nice stamps set or stamp line. I haven’t been making cards for all that long, and so I’m still learning all the elements that make for a nice, cohesive design. I often admit, that my imagination is pretty limited, my supplies are simple (many are thrift store finds), I’d love to own a set of nice markers, but don’t, but my worst nightmares are how to use colors and patterned paper.

So I really stepped outside the box for this card and the photo tells it pretty well I think. Sounds silly, but I’ve looked at the bright green, chevron patterned paper at least a hundred times and said to myself, “What do I do with it?” So today you have it, inspired by garden gloves.

The Cricut flowers (believe it or not) are from the Create a Critter, Hedge Hog, Accessory. I did a random “flower” search and found it. For the ‘Thanks’ I used a stamp from the Hedge Hog set that I recently received from Stamps of Life. I loved the text style and I thought it went well with this fun card. I’ve decided to link this card to the Color Throwdown #405 Challenge.

My challenge to you today is to find something crazy to inspire one of your cards. If you do, share a link in the comments. I’d love to see it. That’s it! Thanks for visiting today. Hope you have a great weekend.

MOJO Monday 460

Today’s MOJO Monday Card is a Christmas Card. I know…I know…. It’s no where near Christmas. But you know what? I’m probably one of the worst when it comes to getting Christmas Cards done, so I’m starting EARLY this year. I even ordered some Christmas Paper yesterday. Okay…maybe it’s a bit too early for Christmas, but here we are. My Mojo Monday 460 inspired card.

I’m always in awe of all the great cards that people make for this challenge. I love them all! Today I added my own personal challenge to this card, and that was to use no patterned paper. To add some texture I did use a couple of Darice embossing folders. The tree cut comes from Cricut Tablescapes Fall and Winter and the circle element is from the Lacy Labels Cartridge. The sentiment stamp is an oldie, a reminder to myself to add Christmas stamps to my collection.

That’s it for today. Thank you for stopping by and have a great week. Stay cool!
