I love vintage images and so every now and then I like to use some of them for cards. At first I wasn’t getting much in the way of inspiration that would go with this week’s theme until I saw this vintage image of ducks and geese at The Old Design Shop blog. I think it was the green tones and the little yellow ducklings that stood out for me.
The Mister and I have sort of a favorite date night. We call it the Haagen-Dazs date, for lack of a better name. It goes something like this: We pick up a pint of our favorite ice cream, the Haagen-Dazs coffee flavor, drive down to the lakeside, throw a blanket on the ground and share the ice cream. The place we like to go usually has some ducks and geese and their little ones. I remember one evening we were trying to think of the names of the ducklings from Make Way for Ducklings and all I could think of was Jack, Mack and Quack. By now you’re thinking life here sounds too boring, right? But who isn’t relaxed by a nice sunset by the lake? Back to the card…
I decided to turn to a couple of packs of We R Memory Keepers that I had purchased recently, Chalkboard and Storytime. They both had the same tones and I picked out a few things that I thought might go together and still go with this week’s theme. I used “Sunset” ink and a stamp from the CTMH A Bunch of Thanks collection, to stamp my sentiment.
I decided to add a little distress ink. This isn’t something I’m real good at. I’ve had to watch a few tutorials and maybe I’ll get better with practice. I put a little dimensional tape behind the sentiment block. A way different card than I first imagined, but I think I’ll save it for the Mister for Father’s Day.
That’s it! I hope you’re having a great week and we’ll see you next time.
